Prof. dr. R. Goldschmeding
Professor of Pathology UMCU
Roel Goldschmeding (1956) ) is Professor of Pathology at UMC Utrecht. He studied medicine in Groningen (NL) and obtained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam. After a year of training Internal Medicine in Leiden and three years in a senior position at Sanquin he was from 1993 to 1997 pathology trainee in the AMC (Amsterdam). Since then he has worked as a Pathologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht, with focus on Nephropathology and Immunopathology.
He did a mini sabbatical at prof. Kerstin Amann’s Departement (Erlangen, Germany) and worked for more than a year as a researcher at FibroGen Inc. (San Francisco, USA) to the development of anti-fibrotic therapies.
His main scientific contributions are in the field of ANCA-associated vasculitis and progressive renal fibrosis.
Roel Goldschmeding is Subject Editor of Nephrol Dial Transplant, member of several Scientific Advisory Boards and teacher at the European Renal Pathology Course and the Dutch Boerhaave course Praktische nefropathologie.
